Colorado Avalanche at Vancouver Canucks
The Avalanche are continuing their road trip tonight in Vancouver, starting off 1-1 with a blowout loss in Edmonton and then a hard-fought win in Calgary. The Canucks have reeled off three straight wins after falling a bit flat in November.
Both these teams are playing good hockey as of late, but they aren’t winning any of their games by convincing or landslide fashion. This is much like the San Jose/Minnesota game: Both teams aren’t playing great hockey, but they’re playing well enough to make this game a hard read.
This could be another low-scoring affair. Colorado hasn’t scored a power play goal since November 21 while Vancouver has given up one power play goal since November 17. Both of these teams are evenly-matched at five on five, with Vancouver having an edge on the power play.
The Avalanche penalty killing has been suspect over the last couple of games, giving up four goals in 11 chances. Again, as I’ve done in their past, I will load the Canucks that are on the top power play unit when they can fit into my budget.
