San Jose Sharks at Minnesota Wild
San Jose wraps up their four-game road trip tonight, having gone 1-2 in the Eastern Conference . Their goaltenders have combined for a .884 save percentage in those three games as well. What compounds the problem of the Sharks in the fantasy game is their balance. There’s no one line you can reliably say will be a factor on any given night. In those three games, no one line has combined for more than one even strength goal in each game.
The Sharks have a bit of a problem in net. Expected starter, Antti Niemi, has a .922 even strength save percentage this year, putting him in the same company as Tim Thomas and Ondrej Pavelec. Niemi has allowed 14 goals against in his last five games, a .908 save percentage.
Minnesota has hit a tough stretch of games, and their record shows, going 4-5-1 in their last 10 games. In their last seven games, the Wild have scored just 10 goals, and converted just 11.1-percent of power play opportunities in their last eight games. Josh Harding is expected to start, so that will help their chances.
A Sunday night game between a team struggling to score and a team at the end of a road trip screams low goal totals. I wouldn’t be too keen on players from either side.
