There are a lot of daily fantasy sites you can get your daily fantasy fix from, with plenty of available resources providing you with tips on how to put together an optimal daily fantasy roster, while also looking at potential daily value picks.
I wanted to do something different with this daily fantasy series on XN Sports, and that is to look at different ways you can construct/deconstruct a daily roster on StarStreet.com by focusing on the quarterback position.
For those of you who have never played on StarStreet.com before, its lineup requires two starting quarterbacks, which peaked my interest when I was first introduced to the site. The starting lineup is as follows: QB/QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE/FLEX/FLEX.
In addition to the 2-QB aspect, there is also no requirement to start a kicker or a defense. Just one more added bonus.
For information about the scoring set-up for StarStreet daily NFL games, you can click on this link. The most relevant scoring details you should be aware of include passing touchdowns are worth four points, and receptions are worth one full point.
What I want to do is show you three different quarterback combinations you can build your StarStreet line-up around.
Since I was a huge wrestling nerd as I child, I’ve named the three quarterback combinations after some legendary, and not-so legendary wrestling tag teams.
First, there’s ‘The Rockers’ division.
In fantasy football, this is your “stud” and “dud” quarterback combination, where you start one of the more high priced “stud” StarStreet quarterbacks, aka the Shawn Michaels of the group, and team him with a lower priced “dud” StarStreet quarterback, aka the Marty Jannetty of the group.
The second quarterback combination is ‘The Mega Powers’ division.
Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage were never meant to be a long-term duo, as they were each superstar wrestlers on their own accord, and when it comes to StarStreet quarterbacks, this would be the equivalent of trotting out two of the higher priced, high-end daily fantasy quarterbacks. Or, as they might be known to you, the unstoppable fantasy scoring quarterback duo.
The last quarterback combination division will be named after ‘The New Age Outlaws’.
Just because Billy Gunn and Jesse James never went on to noteworthy singles wrestling careers, that doesn’t make their accomplishments any less worthwhile. Not only were The New Age Outlaws one of the more successful tag teams of all times, they were a bedrock of D-Generation X. In terms of daily fantasy, this will be a combination of two lower priced quarterbacks that you would never consider part of the elite quarterback fraternity.
Now that we have the introduction to this article out of the way, let’s take a look at three different sets of quarterback combinations we can use in today’s Thanksgiving Day only special contests on StarStreet.
The Rockers
With only three Thanksgiving games to choose from, it’s going to be easy to sift through the high priced quarterbacks from the low priced quarterbacks.
The most expensive Thursday quarterback is Matthew Stafford, and it would make sense to select him as your stud, at his $13,900 price tag.
One thing to keep in mind on StarStreet is that the total salary for your StarStreet squad is $100,000, and that means you have an average salary of $11,111 to spend on each player.
When selecting a quarterback over the average salary you’re going to have to go thrift shopping at another position, and in this case, it’ll be the quarterback position.
Stafford’s high price tag is appealing this week, because he’s averaging 21 StarStreet fantasy points per game, has a 16:9 passing touchdown to interception ratio in his last six games, and faces a Packers defense allowing 253 passing yards/per game in their last four contests, while giving up seven touchdowns to only one interception in those same four games.
If going ‘The Rockers’ route with Stafford, you’re going to have to look for value at quarterback.
With the Packers-Lions game sporting an over/under of 50 points, and being played indoors, choosing, Matt Flynn, the quarterback opposing Stafford, is a strategy worth employing.
Flynn’s $9,300 salary is the second cheapest of the starting Thursday quarterbacks, $400 ahead of Matt McGloin.
With Stafford costing $2,789 more than the average salary/player, and Flynn costing $1,811 less than the $11,111 average salary price point, you are able to make up some of the cost associated with Stafford by pairing him up with Flynn.
The good news about Flynn starting for the Packers this week is that the Lions are having difficulty stopping the pass. Aaron Rodgers and his one passing touchdown day versus the Lions back in Week 5 was the last game in which the Lions allowed less than two passing touchdowns in a game.
On the season, the Lions are going up 290.6 passing yards per game, and have only three interceptions in their past seven games.
A Stafford/Flynn combination is one that could potentially feast on the field, and off it for your DFS StarStreet line-up.
