The final games of the season are upon us and the seasoned fantasy daytrader knows that the tweaking isn’t over until the final half-court desperation shot has been hurled. Though only a handful of games remain, you can still do plenty to move up or down in your fantasy standings. Let’s take a look at some fantasy basketball sleepers with newly discovered relevance and some others whose flame may have burnt out by this point in the season.
Buy:
Wilson Chandler: Strong Buy. With Danilo Gallinari out for the season, Chandler is starting and playing his best ball in a long time. In two starts since Gallinari tore his ACL, Chandler is averaging 25 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 3.5 APG, 1.5 SPG, and three treys per game. He is a must own in this final week of the season.
Corey Brewer: Strong Buy. While Brewer isn’t starting, he and Chandler are taking over a ton of minutes and opportunities in these final games, combining for 57 points in Wednesday’s game against the Spurs. Over his last three games, Brewer is averaging 24.3 PPG, 1.3 SPG, and 2.1 3PPG but only gives you a shooting boost.
Reggie Evans: Strong Buy. With 58 rebounds in his last three games, Evans continues to dominate the boards at a ridiculous pace. If you need a boost in rebounds, pick him up for the last week.
Jimmy Butler: Solid Buy. Butler has now started nine straight and figures to start the final games of the season. In that time, Butler is averaging 15.6 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 2.8 APG, 2.1 SPG, and 1.4 3PPG and should continue that kind of production into the final week.
Chris Copeland: Deep League Buy. With Tyson Chandler and Kenyon Martin all banged up, Chris Copeland is getting more opportunities to be productive. In his last two games he is averaging 15 points, six rebounds, and three treys per games and should continue to see close to 30 minutes each game in the final week.
Will Barton: Solid Buy. Barton figures to start the rest of the Trailblazers’ games and has been a solid addition. In his last three games, Barton is averaging 28 minutes, 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
Sell:
Jrue Holiday: After averaging 17.9 PPG, 8.3 APG, and 1.6 SPG on the season, Holiday has severely slowed down in the final part of the season. In his last six games, Holiday is averaging just 12.2 PPG, 5.5 APG, and 1.3 SPG while shooting a miserable 28% from the floor. Don’t count on him in these final games.
O.J. Mayo: Mayo is really struggling right now, averaging a mere 7.9 PPG, 4.9 APG, and shooting just 30% from the floor. He isn’t a great fantasy contributor anyway but he really isn’t putting up much production right now.
Kevin Martin: Martin’s production fell off significantly after moving from Sacramento to Oklahoma City and despite some flares of fantasy relevance he isn’t helping anyone right now. Over his last six games Martin is averaging just 8.7 PPG and shooting 36% without contributing in any other categories. Just bench or drop him and finish strong.
