Week 2 Fantasy Stock Market: Moore Bang For Your Buck

Mike Dunleavy

With almost two weeks of NBA action in the books, the league has seen more than its share of injury replacements, breakout stars, and quick-to-fizzle-out duds. Let’s buy low and sell high in this week’s fantasy stock market.

Buy

E’Twaun Moore: With Jameer Nelson out, Moore has started the last three games and played over 33 minutes in each one. He is great from three-point range and will give you a few rebounds and assists every game. If he continues to excel, good chance Moore continues to start and put up serious minutes once Nelson returns.

Mike Dunleavy: Although he is still the Bucks’ sixth-man, Dunleavy has shown that he may be worthy of being a fantasy starter. Though his production has been inconsistent over the first three games, Dunleavy is a beast from behind the three-point line and has 20 rebounds and 5 steals through three games. Buy, but buy with caution.

Nikola Vucevic: After a lackluster rookie year in Philly, the Swiss first-rounder seems to have the magic going in Orlando. Although he did not get much time in Wednesday’s game against the T’Wolves, he is still averaging 10.5 PPG and 8 RPG. At 7′ tall and 240 pounds, Vucevic looks like he will be a force to be reckoned with under the glass.

Ramon Sessions: Taking advantage of Gerald Henderson‘s injury, Sessions has seen his time and production increase every single game so far. He is averaging 17 PPG and 6 APG through three games and should see plenty of playing time and opportunities at least for another couple of weeks.

Kevin Seraphin: After missing the first game with a sore calf, the 2010 first-rounder has come out scoring for the Wizards averaging 17.5 PPG and 8 RPG through two games. The Wizards look fine giving him the rock a lot, he shot the ball 19 times Wednesday against the Celtics.

Sell

Brandon Knight: Despite a 21-point effort against the Kings, Knight has had a miserable time shooting the ball. In his previous two games, he had just 4 combined points on 14% shooting. Though the assists are there, I wouldn’t rely on Knight as an everyday starter right now.

Brandon Roy: There was a lot of excitement about Roy’s return from knee injuries and retirement but it has quickly waned as Roy has put up just 23 points over four games on 26% shooting. He has 16 assists in the last two games but if you need points it doesn’t look like you’ll find them here.

Kris Humphries: Humphries finally got some rebounds against Miami on Wednesday, pulling down 11 boards. It was the first time he recorded an offensive rebound this season, however, and has scored just 18 points through three games. If you were expecting the Kris Humpries that averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds per game last year, you best look elsewhere.

Ersan Ilyasova: The Bucks gave the Turkish forward a huge five-year deal after he averaged 13 PPG and 9 RPG in 2011. So far through three games, he is averaging less than 6 PPG and 6 RPG while shooting a horrid 31%. Even this early on, I wouldn’t count on last year’s production just as with Humphries.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: It’s a tough league for rookies, especially ones not known for their offense prowess. Though he has seen his minutes increase in each of the Bobcats’ first three games (he is a nice defender after all), he has shot a miserable 36% from the floor and 60% on free throws. With about 6.5 RPG, 2 blocks per game, and 8 PPG, this looks like what we will see the rest of the way from the former Wildcat. Maybe a few more rebounds.
