(C) Wilin Rosario $5,660 – Rosario has five hits in his last two games, which includes four extra base hits and four runs. His 11 home runs on the year rank second among all National League catchers.
(1B) Brandon Moss $6,445 – Moss owns a four-game hitting streak at the moment, during which he has seven hits and three home runs, bringing his total on the year to 12. His seven strikeouts during his hitting streak and .235 season batting average are a bit concerning, but when looking for value at first base, you could do a lot worse.
(2B) Jason Kipnis $6,440 – Kipnis continues to roll with hits in his last 10 games. His batting average has increased by 31 points during that time and the Indians are at home where he’s batting .288. He’s also 2-for-3 in his career against tonight’s starter, James Shields.
(3B) Anthony Rendon $5,724 – The Nationals rookie continues to produce as he’s hitting .361 this season and has a 10-game hitting streak. He also has three hits in each of the last two games and is batting .414 on the road this season.
(SS) Erick Aybar $5,990 – Aybar has been a bit sporadic this season, hitting .262, though he is batting .286 at home, which is also where he hit both of his home runs this season. Tonight, he faces Aaron Harang, against whom he is 3-for-8 with two doubles.
(OF) Nate Schierholtz $5,887 – Schierholtz is enjoying the best season of his career as he boasts an average nearly at .300 and nine home runs, which already matches his career high. He also has a very impressive 1.447 OPS in the last week.
(OF) Marlon Byrd $5,578 – Adding Byrd to my team always scares me a bit, but he’s putting up a decent season. He has 11 home runs, with three coming in the last five games.
(OF) Ben Revere $4,998 – Revere is swinging a hot bat, hitting .438 during his seven-game hitting streak. He won’t provide any power here, but with 16 stolen bases on the season, there’s always the potential for picking up a couple of steals.
(U) Elliot Johnson $4,390 – Johnson has hit for the cycle over his last four games and has at least one run in each of them. He also gets to face Carlos Carrasco tonight, who has a 15.26 ERA this season and a .436 BAA.
(SP) Max Scherzer $20,210 – I don’t particularly like spending more than a fifth of my budget on one player, but I couldn’t steer clear of the undefeated Scherzer tonight. He averages nearly seven innings and more than eight strikeouts a start. His last time out against Baltimore on May 31st he allowed three runs in eight innings and struck out 10.
(SP) Patrick Corbin $15,229 – I’m doubling down on undefeated starters today, as Corbin goes for win number 10. He failed to make it past the fifth inning for just the first time this season in his last start, but I think a matchup against the Marlins can help fix that.
(RP) Ernesto Frieri $2,089 – In a battle between the Mariners and Angels, also known as the Fight for the Middle of the A.L. West Pack But Still Remain Double Digit Games Out of First Place, I’ll give the edge to L.A. on this night and hope Frieri gets the save.
(P) Bud Norris $11,280 – The young Astro has only won once in his last six starts, but has turned in quality starts in eight of his last night outings. Tonight, he’ll face a reeling White Sox team that is facing the prospects of a four-game sweep at the hands of Houston.
