There is a relatively light MLB schedule tonight, which makes for a fun time to join a daily fantasy baseball league. With fewer players from whom to choose, you have to get creative in spots. So head on over to Star Fantasy Leagues and set your own lineup. As always, use the promo code “SJN” to get a 40% bonus on your deposit. Without further ado, here is my lineup to help get you on your way today.
(C) Ryan Doumit $5,568 – Doumit is coming off a huge night in Boston on Wednesday, going 4-5 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI. I like him to finish strongly in the final game of the Twins’ 4-game set at Fenway.
(1B) Paul Goldschmidt $7,974 – There may not be a hotter hitter in all of baseball right now. Over the last week he’s hit .474 with 4 home runs, 11 RBI, and even 2 stolen bases. Use him now before his price goes even higher.
(2B) Dan Uggla $4,866 – Uggla is one of the streakiest hitters in the game and he just so happens to be on the upside of one of those peaks right now. He’s riding a 6-game hitting streak and had a two homer game on Wednesday.
(3B) Manny Machado $8,759 – The young kid just keeps raking. He’s hit safely in 15 of his last 16 games and is always a threat for home runs and steals on top of it.
(SS) Andrelton Simmons $5,209 – Simmons is riding a mini 5-game hitting streak with multiple hits in 3 of those games. That includes a 4-5 performance on Wednesday.
(OF) Starling Marte $9,073 – Marte has been a stud all season, but even better in May. This month, he’s hitting .348 with 3 home runs and 3 stolen bases.
(OF) Mark Trumbo $7,379 – With all of the star power in the Angels’ lineup, it is actually Trumbo who leads the team in home runs, with 9. That includes 4 already in May.
(OF) Cody Ross $5,368 – Ross seems to be finding his rhythm now, after missing the first couple weeks of the season. He’s hitting .318 this month with hits in all but one of his games.
(U) Evan Longoria $8,506 – Longoria is one of the best hitters in baseball and he’s hit in all but one game in May. That includes four games with multiple hits and two with a home run.
(SP) David Price $13,767 – While he’s not quite the pitcher he’s been in years past, this should be a good night for Price. He loves facing the Blue Jays, against whom he is 12-2 lifetime with a 2.29 ERA.
(SP) Jason Vargas $9,826 – It’s not easy to pick an Angels’ starting pitcher this season, but Vargas has been very good lately. He’s gone 7+ in each of his last three outings, including a complete game effort his last time out. And he gets the benefit of facing the Astros.
(RP) Ernesto Frieri $1,608 – Save chances have been few and far between for Frieri and the Angels this season. But, if there’s a time one may come, it’s against the Astros.
(P) Patrick Corbin $11,925 – Corbin is quietly putting together a strong season with a 4-0 record to go along with a 1.80 ERA. He also has 7 strikeouts in half of his starts this year.
