We had some big scores in the DFS world on Wednesday. Bryce Harper had a monster night putting up 46 points. Harper has always been incredible, but this year he is on a different level. Kershaw and Vargas both had stellar nights on the mound. At $5300 I hope you had Vargas, as he was a steal. Jay Bruce had two home runs himself as he had a 30-point night. However, all of that is over looked by what Ichiro did last night.
In the 9th inning in what was probably his last at-bat at Safeco Field, Ichiro hit a home run. He was showered by cheers and the Mariners players even said they had chills for him as he rounded the bases. The Marlins lost but it was an amazing moment.
We have 11 games on for tonight before the weekend series take off. And make sure you check in tomorrow for Free Lineup Friday.
Low-Scoring Plays
Boston Red Sox @ Toronto Blue Jays – Chris Sale is back on the mound for the Red Sox. Sale didn’t have a double-digit strikeout game until August 3rd last year. He has 2 in his first three starts this year. The Blue Jays have only 3 wins on the season and Sale should cruise in this game. The Red Sox were shut down last night, look for them to get on base today and give Sale some run support.
Targets: Sale, Betts, Benintendi
Philadelphia Phillies @ New York Mets – Thor is back and ready to take control of the Phillies. The Mets are batting .350 off of Nola – Philadelphia’s pitcher – on a limited sample size. The team has been streaky this year and played well last night. Bruce had two home runs where Cespedes was on base and scored on both of them. The Mets’ bats should be quiet tonight, but I still give them the edge in a low-scoring pitcher’s duel.
Targets: Syndergard, Conforto
High-Scoring Play
Washington Nationals @ Atlanta Braves – Bryce Harper is hot, his swing is so smooth he looks like Ken Griffey Jr. R.A . Dickey is throwing for the Braves, and if his knuckleball isn’t moving he is pretty much throwing batting practice fastballs. R.A. Dickey is not good enough to work his way through the Nationals’ lineup. I know he won the Cy Young a couple of years ago, but that was just a strong year for him – similar to how I view Rick Porcello. The Nationals should win this one in a big way.
Targets: Harper, Murphy, Strasburg
Undervalued Play
Robbie Grossman – MIN – OF – I don’t like the Twins in this game, however, $3400 for an outfielder (DH) who is batting .333 on the season is a good price. A day where pitchers cost a lot look to subsidize the price with a player like Grossman.
