Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks – March 1st

Chicago Blackhawks right wing Patrick Kane

We went 2-2 in our head to heads last night. For the sake of full disclosure that brings us to 30-21 for the year. There are only three games tonight and I’m going to lean on Chicago to try to bring us to 10 games over .500 for the fantasy hockey year.

This is lineup I’ll enter in some head to heads at FanDuel:

LW: Patrick Kane $8,000—Kane has 24 points in 20 games this season. I like him against Columbus tonight.

LW:Patrick Sharp $7,600—Sharp can get you fantasy points for shots on goal (61 this season) and should help your plus/minus points. He also has 15 points in 20 games.

RW: Chris Stewart $5,400—I really debated using Nail Yakupov here since he’s only $4,000 and could have opened up some greater possibilities elsewhere. But Stewart is the overall safer pick.

RW: Teemu Selanne $6,000—Selanne has 16 points in 18 games. He hasn’t recorded a point in two games but I like him to get back on track against Minnesota.

C: Jonathan Toews $7,600—Toews had two goals on five shots against St. Louis on Thursday. It was nice to see him break out of his mini-slump.

C: Kyle Palmieri $4,800—Palmieri had a hat-trick on Feb 27. He is still a risky play because he only averages just over 11 minutes of ice time per game. But he has value if remains on the Ducks top line. Unfortunately that situation seems to be tenuous at best as Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau was non committal on why he decided to use Palmieri on the top line: “I don’t know. I just wake up in the morning and think up good combinations.” (LA Times)

D: Justin Schultz $4,600—He has four points over his past three games and is always a threat on the power play.

D: Cam Fowler $3,600—Fowler had over 25 minutes of ice time on Feb. 27. He ended the game with two shots on goal and a plus-1 rating. This is a case where you could use Yakupov instead of Stewart and grab a defenseman like Ryan Suter. The choice is yours.

G: Jonas Hiller $6,500—Hiller is starting tonight and I’m a sucker for cheap goaltending.
