Point Guard
D’Angelo Russell ($4800, 23.2 USG) – This is the game of the night. I believe there’s still no spread here as everyone is awaiting word on Anthony Davis’ status but trust me, it’s the game to target. It’ll likely be the game I stack in cash. By now, you know the story. Lakers and Pelicans are maybe the 2 worst defensive teams in the league, meaning anyone who gets run tonight should be considered. D’Angelo should not be priced at $4800 and in this matchup, it’s something to exploit. We’ve seen the upside and with Kobe questionable to play, he could see a nice bump in minutes. Most of the exposure to this game will be on Pelicans, Clarkson, Williams and Nance so this is sneaky way to get some of that fantasy pie.
Shooting Guard
Devin Booker ($4900, 17.8 USG) – If Tyreke wasn’t in such a beautiful spot tonight against the Lakers, I’d probably roster Booker even though his price has really come up on DK. It doesn’t feel right seeing him at near 5k but the minutes and matchup are very much in his favor. I love targeting shooting guards against Monta Ellis’ defense (27th against SG). Jeff Hornancek recently mentioned that he’d like to tighten his rotation up which should be good news for Booker, who is already seeing major playing time. The over/under on this game is an attractive 205, but the Pacers are nearly double digit favorites. If the Suns can stay competitive for 3 quarters or so, Booker should easily reach value.
Small Forward
Shabazz Muhammad ($4000, 20.9 USG) – I’ll be spending up at SF tonight with all the superstars in play & some nice mid-tier options but under 5K, look at Shabazz. He’s been playing about 26 minutes off the Wolves bench over the last couple of weeks. I love this spot as a tourney play mainly due to the chance that this turns into a blowout. Currently, the Wolves are 11 point dogs. If Shabazz gets playing time against this Thunder bench (maybe the worst in the league), he will go off. The thing to worry about here is the Wolves rotation has become somewhat unpredictable. They played 13 players on Sunday which is usually something that’ll turn you off in DFS. But his minutes are trending in the right direction regardless of who they’re playing and averaging 24.28 DKPTS in 5 out of his last 6 games.
Power Forward
Amir Johnson ($4700, 14.2 USG) – I hate the value at PF tonight but Amir at least provides some. Brad Stevens is slowly starting to trust him more and more over Sullinger. The Celtics front court rotation is usually a mess to sort out but Johnson is averaging 28.4 min over his last 5 games (29.38 DKPTS). The Knicks give up the 9th most DKPTS to PF’s so I like that as well. I also think they’ll need Johnson to play a bit more tonight against a tougher guy like Porzingis, who is looking to be a very popular DFS play tonight.
Center
Boban Marjanovic ($3300, 28.2 USG) – A lot of people will tell you to look at Tyson Chandler at only $3800 tonight with Alex Len missing the next 3 games but I never enjoy rostering the walking zombie that Chandler has become. He just hasn’t looked right at all since returning from injury. But Boban tho . . .
I wrote him up yesterday and he didn’t disappoint. At nearly the bare minimum, this dude just needs like 15 min and he crushes value. The hope and expectation is that the Spurs rest some guys being the second end of a back to back. If the Spurs decide to not rest anyone, he won’t be as appealing unless a blowout unfolds (Spurs are 6.5 favorites) but in the event that Duncan or Aldridge rest, Boban immediately becomes a decent play. His PER 36 numbers are God-like (25.2 points, 14.4 rebounds, 2.8 blocks, 1.3 steals 53.55 DKPTS!). You just can’t ignore what this guy is doing right now. He’s producing 1.48 DKPTS per min so if he gets even 10 min, he should make value.
