Byes: Philadelphia (Nick Foles), Tampa Bay (Mike Glennon)
Jimmy Garoppolo
The only reason Garoppolo’s name is on this list is because before the Patriots’ Week 6 game vs. the Bills saw Tom Brady listed on the injury report as questionable with an ankle injury. Usually the Patriots’ injury report is nothing but mind games from head coach Bill Belichick, but a CSN New England report said Brady’s injury was significant enough that it “needed a lot of therapy to be ready” for kickoff.
You couldn’t tell that Brady was playing hurt, and he’s been on a roll his last two games, throwing for 653 passing yards, six touchdowns, and zero interceptions during that span.
There really is no need to pick up Garoppolo, but if Brady’s ankle injury lingers or worsens, it doesn’t hurt to have Garoppolo’s name in mind so you can quickly grab him from the waiver wire. If you have a free bench spot and own Brady then handcuffing Garoppolo isn’t the worst idea.
Mike Glennon
Some 2-QB leagues have restrictions on the number of quarterbacks they can roster and quarterbacks going on their bye are sometimes dropped to clear up roster space. I will fully admit that there’s a 0.01 percent chance that Mike Glennon is sitting on the waiver wire in your 2-QB league, but if you see him get dropped make it a priority to put a waiver wire claim in.
In his three starts this year, Glennon has thrown for 865 passing yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions. His post-bye schedule from Week 8 to Week 12: MIN, CLE, ATL, WAS, and CHI. Make sure he’s rostered in your 2-QB league.
Zach Mettenberger
Jake Locker missed his second start this year, and Charlie Whitehurst led the Titans to a 16-14 victory over the Jaguars. The 32-year-old vet was an uninspiring 17-of-28 for 233 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
Even though Blake Bortles was on the losing side of things, he did finish the game throwing for 336 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also added 38 yards rushing.
The Titans brass must have been watching the rookie signal caller and thinking to themselves that Jacksonville has found themselves a potential franchise quarterback and wondering if it might be time to give their rookie quarterback an extended look? Zach Mettenberger has already been thrown into a regular season NFL game his rookie year, and it could happen again.
With Jake Locker unable to stay consistently healthy and in a contract year it might be Mettenberger’s time to show what he has to offer sooner rather than later.
Brandon Weeden
Tony Romo took a nasty hit to his side early in Sunday’s game vs. Seattle, and admitted after the game that he might have a rib issue.

It’s too early in the week to tell what kind of an impact, if any, this rib issue will have on Romo’s status for Week 7. Keep tabs on Romo throughout the week, and have his backup, Brandon Weeden on waiver wire speed dial.
Robert Griffin III
Don’t forget about RG3.
The Washington Redskins are 1-5 and in last place in the NFC East. Kirk Cousins has been padding the stat sheet, throwing for 1,321 passing yards and eight touchdowns in his four starts. But he has also thrown seven interceptions, having thrown three or more in two games.
RG3 was seen running and throwing a bit on the field before Washington’s Week 6 game during warmups, but there is no timetable for his return. If the former starting quarterback in Washington is chilling on your waiver wire and you have room to stash him it would be a good idea to do so. You want to make a claim for him a week too soon, rather than a week too late.
