DeSean Jackson is close to signing a deal with the Washington Redskins, according to multiple reports.

Jackson, who visited with team officials on Monday night, remained in the nation’s capital overnight and could ink a deal with his former NFC East rival as soon as Tuesday. According to Tim McManus of 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, talks are progressing very well between the two sides and that a deal could be imminent.

Not so fast.

Other media outlets have reported that no agreement in place between Washington and Jackson, and that although the visit went well, other teams remain in play. Among the teams still mentioned in the race: the Oakland Raiders, essentially Jackson’s “hometown” team.

The Redskins have just over $6.1 million remaining in salary cap space for the 2014 season, which may not bode well for the team’s chances of landing Jackson. According to Chris Russell of ESPN 980 in Washington, Jackson is looking for a deal worth between $9-10 million annually.

Other free agents on the search for new homes include former Chicago Bears running back Michael Bush and safety Danieal Manning, who was released by the Houston Texans Monday.

Bush has a visit set with the New England Patriots, who are still trying to find a running back to replace LeGarrette Blount, who last week inked a deal to join the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Manning is off to meet with the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday and Wednesday. Manning’s 2013 season was marred by injuries and became expendable after the Texans signed Chris Clemons last week.
