(C) Josmil Pinto $5,130 – In 20 games with the Twins, Pinto is hitting .333 with four home runs, five doubles, and 12 RBI. He is coming off a two-hit performance yesterday and has mutliple hits in four of his last seven games.
(1B) Matt Adams $5,695 – As the Cardinals push toward the N.L. Central division title, Adams is helping to carry the load on offense. He’s hitting .325/.349/.650 this month with eight homers, 15 RBI, and 16 runs. He has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games.
(2B) Daniel Murphy $7,224 – Murphy is working on an eight-game hitting streak and has a hit in 20 of his 25 games this month. He has put together a very nice season, hitting .284 with 13 homers, 77 RBI, and 92 runs.
(3B) Evan Longoria $7,047 – Longoria is coming off a very nice three-game series against the Yankees, during which he went 7-for-13 with two homers, eight RBI, and four runs. He and his Rays will finish their season against Toronto, against whom he is a .304/.394/.542 career hitter.
(SS) Stephen Drew $5,992 – Drew has hits in five of his last seven games, with two hits in his last game on Wednesday. He also is very successful in limited appearances against Scott Feldman, whom he’ll face tonight. He is 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBI, two walks, and two stolen bases.
(OF) Michael Brantley $6,728 – Brantley has been a great table-setter for the Indians for the last week-and-a-half, and especially this week. He has three hits in each of his last four games and a total of two homers, nine RBI, five runs, and two steals. He’s on fire right now.
(OF) Starling Marte $6,370 – The Pirates have a huge series this weekend against the Reds as they fight for homefield advantage in the winner-take-all wild card game. Marte has risen to the occasion over the last three games, having gone 5-for-10 with a double and homer. He also had three steals last night alone.
(OF) Avisail Garcia $5,385 – The 22-year-old hasn’t wasted any time in finding himself a home in Chicago since being traded from Detroit. In 39 games with the White Sox, he has hit .320 with five homers, four doubles, and two triples. He also has a current eight-game hitting streak, during which he has three of his home runs and has scored six times.
(U) Giancarlo Stanton $6,590 – Stanton went 0-for-4 last night, but he hasn’t gone hitless in back-to-back games in more than three weeks, so he’ll bounce back tonight. Before last night, he had reached base in 11 straight games. He’ll finish out his season at home, where he is hitting .305/.429/.616 in 54 games this season.
(SP) Cliff Lee $18,583 – Lee hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a start since July and has failed to go at least six innings just twice during that time. Over has last four outings, he has picked up 41 strikeouts. There’s no reason to think he won’t go out strong tonight against Atlanta. He won his last start against them in early September, allowing just two hits over eight innings while striking out 10.
(SP) Bartolo Colon $13,541 – Colon has allowed just three earned runs over his last five starts and is working on 19 consecutive scoreless innings. He’ll wrap up his regular season tonight against Seattle. He is 2-0 against the M’s this season, allowing five runs in 15 innings.
(RP) Joaquin Benoit $2,302 – As the Tigers try to leapfrog Oakland to claim the number two seed in the American League, they’ll need to get by Miami this weekend. I suspect they start that tonight with Benoit finishing this game off.
(P) Alexi Ogando $9,324 – Texas is in need of wins if they want to claim a wild card spot and the pressure rests on Ogando tonight. In his last two starts, he has gone 12 innings while allowing only four hits and one run. I’ll put my faith in him, knowing he needs to turn in a good performance tonight against the Angels.
