It’s playoff time in most fantasy leagues so streamers have to be especially reliable this time of year. I’ll occasionally gamble with a bad matchup if the past numbers are promising but with so much on the line I’ll only go with more reliable but largely available pitchers the rest of the way. You don’t want a Tom Koehler to blow up your entire first round week. Let’s take a look at the top pitcher streaming picks for week 24.
Monday, September 9:
Taijuan Walker vs. HOU: Walker has given up four runs over 10 innings since coming up and shut out the Astros for five innings, giving up just two hits and a walk, in his first start against them.
Tuesday, September 10:
Martin Perez vs. PIT: Since July 31, Perez is 6-0 with a 2.54 ERA, .225 BA, and 35 K/13 BB. He’ll face a Pittsburgh lineup that, despite big waiver adds, ranks in 26th in offense in September.
Andrew Cashner at PHI: In six August starts, Cashner put up a 2.25 ERA, .242 BAA, and 29 K/10 BB. He’ll face an offense that has scored just 23 runs over seven September games, ranking 29th.
Dillon Gee vs. WAS: Gee has pitched well since the beginning of August, putting up a 2.02 ERA, .238 BAA, and 30 K/8 BB over his last seven starts. He’s owned the Nats all season, going 4-1 with a 2.16 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 22 K/8 BB over 33.1 IP.
Tony Cingrani vs. CHC: If Cingrani is still available, you need to grab him and start him every time out. Cingrani has a 2.35 ERA and 17 K/5 BB over his last three starts and has put up a 3.60 ERA over 20 IP vs. the Cubs this season, striking out 19 and walking two.
Ivan Nova at BAL: Nova owns a 2.29 ERA over his last three starts and has owned the O’s, going 2-0 with a 1.52 ERA, 0.59 WHIP, and 20 K/2 BB over 23.2 IP vs. BAL this season.
Wednesday, September 11:
Scott Feldman vs. NYY: Feldman has been electric in his last five starts, going 3-1 with a 1.36 ERA, .195 BAA, and 25 K over 33 IP. He faced the Yankees just two weeks ago, allowing just one run, six hits, and one walk over seven innings while striking out five.
Sonny Gray at MIN: Through his first six Big League starts, Gray owns a 2.77 ERA, .210 BAA, and 38 K/10 BB over 39 IP. He’ll face off against a Minnesota team that ranks 24th in runs since the All-Star break.
Yusmeiro Petit vs. COL: You have to go with the hot hand and none is hotter than Petit’s. Over his last three starts, he is 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA, and 23 K/4 BB. Oh, and he was one out shy of a perfect game in his last outing. His first start of the year came against the Rockies on August 27 and he held them to just two runs over six innings while striking out six – at Coors Field.
Thursday, September 12:
Tyson Ross at PHI: Ross has been one of my favorite streamers in the second half, owning a 2.16 ERA, .189 BAA, and 63 K over 58 IP in nine starts since July 23. Meanwhile, the Phils ranks 26th in offense since the All-Star break.
Nate Eovaldi vs. ATL: Eovaldi faced the Braves on September 1, pitching eight scoreless innings, giving up seven hits and two walks while striking out six. His previous start against them on August 10, Eovaldi pitched seven one-hit innings and struck out eight. I like his chances in the trifecta.
Friday, September 13:
Danny Salazar at CHW: Salazar has been on his game, owning a 2.92 ERA over 37 IP on the season and a 1.93 ERA over his last three starts. He’ll face a White Sox team that ranks 12th in the AL in runs since the All-Star break.
Saturday, August 14:
Wade Miley vs. COL: Miley looked sharp in his last start, allowing two runs over seven innings. In two starts against the Rockies this year, Miley owns an impressive 0.73 ERA and eight strikeouts over 12.1 IP. In his career, Miley is 5-0 with a 2.52 ERA against the Rockies.
Michael Wacha vs. SEA: Wacha should be owned universally anyway but he’s a must-start after putting up a 1.00 ERA over his last three starts, going up against an offense that ranks 11th in the AL in runs since the All-Star break.
Sunday, August 15:
Jerome Williams at HOU: Williams has been solid, putting up a 3.38 ERA and 15 K/5 BB over his last three starts (18.2 IP). In three starts against the Astros this season, he’s put up a 3.06 ERA and 14 K over 17.2 IP.
