A big night for Colorado Rockies as they pounded the Padres 18-4. Arenado had a monster night where he went 5-6 with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs. His 3 home runs came in three straight at bats which is remarkable. If the Rockies are able to make the playoffs, Arenado will be in the conversation for MVP.
Pablo Sandoval is headed back to the Bay Area. The Red Sox finally released him, and the Giants have signed him to a minor league contract pending a physical. The Red Sox still owe him his money, but he is headed back the San Fran where he will be forced to play the field since they don’t have a DH.
It’s travel day in the MLB so we have a smaller slate of games but still a good one.
San Diego Padres @ San Francisco Giants – The Padres are an absolute train wreck as they just got shelled by the Rockies last night. Tonight won’t get any easier as they face Madbum and the Giants. Luckily the Giants don’t show much on offense either, so this game should be low scoring on both ends. Bumgarner will pick up his first win on the season and strikeout a ton of batters.
Targets: Bumgarner, Posey
New York Yankees @ Seattle Mariners – This game looks to be the pitching matchup of the day as Severino takes the mound against Felix Hernandez. Severino is one of the surprises for the Yankees, if they had a play off game today, Severino would have to get the ball. His last outing he pitched against Sale and that was the game that went into 16 innings. The reason that game went 16 innings was because Severino pitched a gem. Felix Hernandez should play well also, but the Yankee lineup will be too much and they will be able to score off of Hernandez.
Targets: Severino, Judge, Sanchez
High-Scoring Plays
Toronto Blue Jays @ Boston Red Sox – Fister is 0-3 on the year but hasn’t pitched terribly for Boston. He has given up the long ball in a couple of games that has came back to bite him. Donaldson left the game the other day with a hand injury which isn’t a good sign. However the Blue Jays are still capable of hitting home runs especially in Fenway which is a hitters ballpark. The Red Sox also show potential to mash the ball, Pedroia is playing well right now driving in runs left and right. This should be the high scoring game of the day.
Targets: Bautista, Tulowitzki
Atlanta Braves @ L.A. Dodgers – The Dodgers are the hottest team in the MLB and are absolutely raking. The Braves are in 4th in the NL East behind the Marlins and Mets who aren’t great teams so that makes the Braves not good of a team. The Dodgers should crush the Braves, and win this game easily. Stack as many batters in the Dodger line up as you can. The team to beat in the MLB are the Dodgers and the Braves show no shot.
Targets: Bellinger, Taylor, Turner
Extra Innings
Because of the low amount of games, Bumgarner will be extremely highly owned. It might not be worth it to spend all the money to take a player that everyone else will. McCarthy of the Dodgers will be a great play. He doesn’t have the name that other pitchers like Bumgarner and Hernandez will attract, but he is a solid pitcher that is almost guaranteed a win. Taking him will allow you to stack more Dodger batters who should all have a big game. He might not put up the numbers that Madbum will but he should be within 10 points of him which is a fair trade off for the amount of money that you will save.
