Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 4/24/17

Yesterday we had some great games around the league.  The best headline came from Pittsburgh as Ivan Nova let up his first walk of the 2017 season.  Of course the walk came against the Yankees’ pitcher who was in his first career at-bat.  Aside from that, Nova went 7 strong innings, helping the Pirates prevail in this one.

We have a small schedule of games today giving you a small slate to work with.

Low-Scoring Play

Kansas City Royals @ Chicago White Sox – Vargas takes the mound for the Royals. He is averaging 31 fantasy points per game this season with a 3-0 record.  His ERA is 0.44 and the White Sox are not a strong team offensively. Usually I like trying to find pitchers that will perform well that won’t be highly owned.  Vargas will be highly-owned, however, the stats are too much to pass up on.

Targets: Vargas

High-Scoring Play

Tampa Bay Rays @ Baltimore Orioles – The O’s were finishing up a series against Boston where, aside from yesterday, the Orioles were crushing the ball. Chris Archer will be a highly-owned pitcher, so taking the Orioles against him could propel your team high in the placing. It will be a risk if the Orioles can’t hit the ball, however, after being shut down yesterday the line up is too good to not show up again.

Targets: Davis, Machado

Undervalued Plays

Adrian Gonzalez – LAD – 1B – Gonzalez is a power hitter and a great one.  He is batting a little lower than his standard with his average at .246, where we would expect them to hit around .270-.290.  Gonzalez has yet to hit a home run this season, when he is known to hit about 30 a year. Gonzalez will find the long ball soon and will be a tough out when he does.

Chris Owings – ARI – SS – In a lineup that has been producing runs, Owings is a solid pick.  He is batting .313 with 9 RBI’s this year. The Diamondbacks should beat the Padres easily and Owings could be in the middle of it.
