It’s travel day across MLB, so we don’t have a full slate, but we’ll take any baseball we can get. Looking back to yesterday, New York is heating up. The Yankees have been sticking it to the Rays all week, and Cespedes has put the Mets on his back and ran through the Phillies. Last night the Orioles sent bombs all over Fenway. Steven Wright does not look like the All-star starter he was last year. As of right now, it looks like he will lose his job when Price gets back.
Remember, tomorrow is Free Lineup Friday, so look for my lineup in tomorrow’s blog.
Low-Scoring Plays
Minnesota Twins @ Detroit Tigers – Jordan Zimmermann has owned the Twins in his career, the Twins have hit .220 off of Zimmermann. The Twins are 17th in the league in scoring runs and haven’t impressed me much this year. On the other side, Miguel Cabrera has killed Phil Hughes. He is batting .404 against him with 6 home runs.
Targets: Cabrera, Upton
Colorado Rockies @ San Francisco Giants – Bumgarner is back and is going to make this game almost impossible for the Rockies. He picked up a loss in his last outing and I like him to bounce back strong. The Rockies struggled against a Padres team that isn’t that good. Going into San Fran with one of the best athletes in the game it will be a hard task. Take Bumgarner no matter what the price is.
Target: Bumgarner
High-Scoring Play
Pittsburgh Pirates @ Boston Red Sox – These two teams opened up the season against each other and now they are battling it out again. The Red Sox have their stars back in the batting order and should start to pick it up. Boston can now go on a little bit of a tear and start to lead the league in some batting statistics.
Targets: Betts, Moreland, Pedroia
Undervalued Play
Eduardo Rodriguez – BOS – SP – The Red Sox are facing the Pirates again this season. The Pirates are almost dead last in every offensive category. If you take one of the top pitchers look to balance it out with Rodriguez.
