Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice and Value Picks – 12/17

2016 World Cup of Hockey Schedule

Each day throughout the NHL season I am going to be recommending players to target in your DFS lineups with the focus on tournament lineups (with DraftKings prices). I will try to avoid posting the obvious plays on a given night — for example Tyler Seguin is an automatic play for me every day he plays.

After just two games last night there eleven games on the NHL schedule tonight. Below are several “value” forwards that I will be constructing into my GPP lineups tonight.

[Play daily fantasy hockey on DraftKings tonight!]

C – Rickard Rakell ($3,700) – ANA
Since being placed on the LW alongside Perry and Getzlaf, Rakell has become one of my favourite plays in DFS. He is sure to log 15+ minutes on a given night. He skates on the PP1 and with the Ducks playing the Sabres tonight who rank 27th in the NHL on the PK the Ducks should have their opportunities with the man-advantage. Pairing Rakell with one of Perry or Getzlaf gives you a decently priced mini-stack tonight in a favourable matchup.

C – Calle Jarnkrok ($3,000) – NSH
Jarnkrok continues to center the top line between Filip Forsberg and James Neal with Mike Fisher out due to injury (check lineups prior to puck drop to see if Fisher is playing tonight or not). The Predators are facing the St. Louis Blues tonight in what should be a very competitive contest. Jarnkrok is a one of my favourite cheap plays tonight. He gives you exposure to Neal and Forsberg without having to pay for their price tag and he is also on the PP1 with Neal, Forsberg, Josi and Weber.

W – Jakub Voracek ($5,600) – PHI
Voracek has had a up and down season with a lot more downs than ups. Voracek had his best game of the campaign last game against the Hurricanes. He had a goal along with two assists. Is this a sign that Voracek is finding his game? I sure hope so. He is expected to remain on the LW of the second line with Couturier and Simmonds. The Flyers are playing the Canucks who are coming off a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of the Minnesota Wild. The Canucks struggled mightily and somehow managed to give up 36 shots through two periods. I expect the Flyers to be able to capitalize on the Canucks poor defensive play.

C – Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($4,700) – EDM
RNH and Eberle have found their groove as of late. The duo have combined for thirteen points in their last five games. The Oilers are visiting the Blackhawks tonight. While it isn’t the most ideal matchup for the Oilers the price tags on the Oilers young players are too hard to pass up. I expect the duo of Leon Draisaitl and Taylor Hall to more highly owned than RNH and Eberle so that is why I am leaning in their favour in GPP. If you do a mini-stack with RNH and Eberle it will give you exposure to the PP1 and PP2 of the Oilers. RNH skates on the first powerplay unit and Eberle is on the second.

Other “value” forwards I like tonight: J. Eberle ($5,200), N. Kadri ($4,900), J. Ward ($4,600), R. Strome ($4,000), V. Nishuchkin ($3,800), S. Couturier ($3,300), A. Wennberg ($3,100), V. Arvidsson ($2,900) & D. Zubrus ($2,700).
