NFL Shootouts of the Week

week 3 NFL schedule

One can find a huge edge in tournaments by targeting high scoring affairs and stacking players from these games as the higher scoring the match up, the more fantasy point production. I have singled out some games to target this week that I expect to be high scoring shootouts.

Wild Western Chalk

Pittsburgh @ Cincinatti – Over/Under:  49.5 Spread: CIN -3 This game will be targeted by the noobs to the sharps alike and for good reason. The Pittsburgh secondary allows the fourth most pass yards per game and Cincinnati will likely be without top corners Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones and Leon Hall. Both teams are bottom 10 in average yards allowed against the run. It makes sense for both teams to attack the contest with a passing game plan. The Pittsburgh Steelers offense is clicking like a tap dancing performance and all parts should be targeted. Dalton does have the potential to bust in a big match up, but he may go low owned as I believe most players will slot Big Ben in their lineups if they are targeting this game. Dalton has a ton of upside and he has been running a decent amount as well, raising his floor.

Southern Style Standoff

New Orleans @ TB – Over/Under:  50.5 Spread: TB -4 Those who start with Vegas totals will begin right here with a gaudy 50.5 over/under, the highest of the week. Surprisingly, I think the main thing that could go wrong is the Saints offense not putting enough points on the board to force Jameis to throw a ton. That said I believe they will. I am not high on Doug Martin simply due to this developing into a shootout leaving him on the sidelines while Charles Sims works the passing game out of the backfield although the Bucs are favored.

Saints Options

Drew Brees – 3.3% owned in Thursday contests

Brandin Cooks – Check for injury updates because he is questionable with a concussion.

Ben Watson – 6.2% owned in Thursday contests

Buccaneers Options

Jameis Winston – 9.9% owned in Thursday contests

Mike Evans – 13.1% owned in Thursday contest

Austin Seferian-Jenkins – 10.7% owned in Thursday contests
