GPP thoughts for 12/8 DraftKings Slate:
Tonight’s slate features 9 games with 4 heavy favorites. This slate is good opportunity to stack a heavy favorite and pair it with a stack of a team that is an underdog or slight favorite. Be wary of stacking two heavy favorites together as this is more of a cash games strategy.
Top Stacks for 12/8 DraftKings Slates:
NY Islanders – After putting together a four game win streak Philadelphia lost in their last game to Columbus 4-0. I think it is safe to assume Philadelphia’s streak was more of an aberration rather than a turnaround. The Islanders are averaging 2.72 goals per game and are safe to target here. A stack of Tavares, Nelson, and Okposo comes in at $17,900 and is a solid foundation for a lineup.
Chicago – Nashville is struggling as of late going 3-7 in their last 10 and will be playing on consecutive nights after pulling out a win last night. Pekka Rinne will get the start for Nashville after sitting out last night. Rinne has not been good on the road this year with a road save % of .887. The Toews, Hossa, and Teravainen line clicked for two goals last out after being put back together and should have a lower ownership percentage than the Kane line. The Toews line plus Duncan Keith stack will cost $20,500 but has the potential to outproduce their price.
San Jose – Calgary has been terrible on defense all year with a league worst 3.58 GA/G. The only problem with stacking the San Jose top line of Karlsson, Pavelski, and Thornton is that all are classified as centers on Draftkings. This would fill up both center slots and the utility slot. If you are uncomfortable with that you can go with a stack of Pavelski, Burns, and Thornton. While pricey at $19,800 all three see power play time together with Burns having the highest average of DraftKings points per game for a defenseman on the slate.
St. Louis – I am not sure what to make of the Blue’s line juggling, but with facing a Arizona team that gives up goals at a clip of 3.1 GA/A I want exposure if something clicks. A first line stack of Paajarvi, Stastny, Tarasenko, and Shattenkirk will cost $21,000 but could take down a GPP if the line finds chemistry. Make sure to check any morning skate information to confirm this line stays together.
Other stacks to consider – Washington, Dallas, and Los Angeles.
Cheap defenseman to use to fill out your stacks.
Marek Zidlickey NYI ($3,200) – Gets power play time and is in a good matchup.
Jake Gardiner TOR ($3,100) – Gets power play time and the matchup against NJ is favorable.
Christian Ehrhoff LAK ($2,900) – Gets power play time and gets a decent matchup.
Chris Wideman OTT ($2,600) – Almost min priced, sees power play time, and has 12 SOG in his last 10 games.
