Daily Fantasy Hockey: Line Stacks For Oct. 30

daily fantasy hockey

Recap: The information in yesterday’s article was horrendous and I apologize for that. I truly thought that the Stamkos and Pacciorety lines would roll with ease last night but I was way off. Varlamov was strong in net for the Avalanche last night stopping 34 out of 35 shots. Steven Stamkos had three of those shots on net but couldn’t capitalize. Jonathan Drouin was a late scratch and if you were on this line I hope you realized that before it was too late. The Canadiens lost to Edmonton and Brendan Gallagher was the only one on that first line to find the net. The Islanders only totaled 2 goals vs the Hurricanes and Strome was also a late scratch last night. I was damn sure that Jonathan Tavares would record at least one point but all he could muster was 2 SOG. After an extremely disappointing night it’s time to get back on that DFS grind. Let’s go!

We have a total of nine games going tonight. I will be giving out which line stacks I think will put up the most points and offer the best value.

Top Stack- $20,900

Washington Capitals: Alexander Ovechkin ($9,300) Evgeny Kuznetsov ($5,600) T.J. Oshie ($6,000). The Capitals are at home tonight vs the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets have played better as of late winning two straight after starting off the season losing their first eight games. They are still having trouble on defense and Sergei Bobrovsky is expected in net for Columbus tonight. Bobrovsky’s numbers on the season are just plain bad, he has a 2-6 record with a 3.99 GAA and a .864 SV%. The first line of the Caps is dangerous to say the least. Alex Ovechkin is one of the top three player in the game and can almost score at will. Ovie is expensive but there is a reason for that. He has totaled 50+ goals in six seasons during his ten-year career. He has 5 goals and 4 assists this season through 7 games and has totaled 37 SOG. There a few players that are a must start for me in DFS (Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn) and Ovie is definitely near the op of that list. Kuznetsov continues to center this line and I don’t think he will be giving that up anytime soon with 4 goals and 8 assists so far this season. This kid impresses me on a nightly basis. Getting to play next to Ovie will continue to boost his point totals. Oshie was acquired this offseason and after starting out with zero points in his first two games he now has seven points in his last six games. Three of those games he recorded two points in each contest. Look for this line to come out flying tonight vs a struggling Columbus team.

Other options: Boston Bruins- David Krejci ($5,700) David Pastrnak ($4,500) Loui Eriksson ($4,900). Roberto Luongo is confirmed to start in net for the Panthers tonight and he has been very good at home once again this year. I still like this line though especially with Krejci totalling 7 goals and 7 assists this year which leads the league. The price is also enticing.

Mid Stack- $19,100

Montreal Canadiens: Max Pacioretty ($7,700) Brendan Gallagher ($5,400) Tomas Plekanec ($6,000). Back to the same line that burned us yesterday? YES! This line is extremely talented and I just don’t think that the Calgary Flames will be able to contain them. The Habs lost to the Oilers last night and they will come out fast and furious tonight in Calgary. The Canadiens are averaging 3.55 goals per game which is good for third in the NHL. Calgary is allowing 3.90 goals per game and there starting goalie is injured so it looks like the Flames will have to start Joni Ortio in net. Ortio has a 0-1-1 record with a 2.96 GAA and a .911 SV%. This line gets it done tonight. Easy as that.

Other options: Colorado Avalanche- Nathan MacKinnon ($7,200) Gabriel Landeskog ($6,900) Jack Skille ($2,700). Yes, I picked on them yesterday and will probably continue to but I like the matchup tonight and this is the only line that I will consider on this team.

Contrarian/Value Stack- $10,400

Buffalo Sabres: Jack Eichel ($5,100) Sam Reinhart ($2,700) Johan Larsson (2,600). This is the second line for the Sabers which usually means they will get a better matchup vs the opponents defense. They play at home vs the Philadelphia Flyers who aren’t good at anything in particular. Jack Eichel is living up to his billing as the number two pick overall. He has speed, strength and vision. He can create space and get shots off like few at his age can. Eichel has three goals and zero assists but I think he gets at least one point tonight vs the Flyers. Larsson and Reinhart have only contributed six points combined which should make this line extremely low owned tonight. The Sabres CF% is 53.3% good for 6th in the NHL. That is shocking to me after how bad they were last year and I am hoping that it continues tonight.

Other options: Arizona Coyotees- Mikkel Boedker (3,800) Kyle Chipchurra ($2,500) Max Domi ($5,200) I highly reccommend pairing this line with D-man Oliver Ekman Larsson ($4,900)

As always, feel free to leave comments below or contact me on twitter @afish84 with any questions or concerns. Good luck tonight!!
