The Sandlot is arguably the most beloved of all baseball movies, ranking right up there with Major League, The Natural, A League of Their Own, and Bull Durham. Who among us hasn’t uttered the phrase “You’re killing me, Smalls” after becoming exasperated with a co-worker, friend or loved one.
A handful of members of the New York Yankees decided to recreate one of the more memorable scenes from the classic 1993 film, as they went full thespian for their version of the Babe Ruth scene in which Smalls, ably played by Brett Gardner, comes to the realization that the ball he stole from his stepfather’s office was signed by the one and only Babe Ruth.

C.C. Sabathia, Didi Gregorius, Chase Headley, Dellin Betances, and Jacoby Ellsbury fulfill their roles admirably, considering they’re baseball players and not actors, but it’s Brian McCann who steals the show. His portrayal of Ham Porter is downright Oscar worthy.
Here’s the original scene, but if you have the time, I’d recommend re-watching the entire movie. It’s the right thing to do.
