10. Aaron Nola – RHP – Philadelphia Phillies
Whenever the words ‘fast-track’ or ‘Major League-ready’ are used to describe a recent draft pick, one’s ears should perk up. The fourth pitcher selected in the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Aaron Nola finds himself in the perfect position to develop at his own pace while still having a spot waiting for him with the big league club.
Philadelphia appears poised for another down year, and the former LSU star will likely don a Phillies uniform no later than September. Considered a high-floor prospect, Nola – and any success he encounters – represents the belief that the less flashy college pitchers may provide the best return on a team’s investment.
