5. Dick LeBeau to the Cardinals?
While this remains a rumor at this point … LeBeau resigned from the Steelers after serving as the team’s defensive coordinator the past decade and 15 total years as a coach with the organization. Linebackers coach Keith Butler was named his replacement.
The iffy part was many believed the longtime Steelers defensive coordinator and beloved figure was retiring from the game. At 77 years old, it just made sense. But perhaps we need to read between the lines and understand that at his age, after the team just finished 18th in defense, a divorce was inevitable.
Since the Cardinals lost their defensive coordinator Bowles to the Jets, a reunion of former Steelers coordinators in the desert makes too much sense. Arians and LeBeau were both a part of Pittsburgh’s 2008 Super Bowl title and the team’s appearance in the big game in 2010. The Cardinals will return Darnell Dockett and Daryl Washington in 2015, and could instantly be a top-five unit.
