1. Marc Trestman to the Ravens
Trestman is now Baltimore’s fourth offensive coordinator in as many seasons, replacing Gary Kubiak who just was named the head coach of the Broncos.
Trestman was 13-19 as the Bears’ head coach, and his offense had mixed results in those two seasons. In 2013, the Bears owned the league’s second highest-scoring offense and ranked eighth in terms of total yardage. Last year, those numbers fell to 23rd and 21st, respectively.
One thing for sure is that Trestman tends to throw the ball more than he runs it. The past two years Chicago ranked in top half of the league in passing yardage and attempts. It’ll be a sharp contrast from Kubiak’s zone-blocking, one-cut running scheme he installed last year around Justin Forsett. Now it appears the offense could be more heavily reliant on Joe Flacco, which makes re-signing Torrey Smith all the more important.
