The New York Jets have finally filled their head coaching vacancy. On Tuesday night, the team hired both a general manager, Mike Maccagnan, who within hours hired Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator to be the team’s next coach. Bowles’ work in 2014 was mighty impressive, having to piece together a defense without the likes of Darnell Dockett, John Abraham, Karlos Dansby and Daryl Washington.
Still, the Cardinals were a playoff team — almost won the NFC West if it wasn’t for an injury at quarterback — and finished 14th in defense DVOA. Now Bowles takes over a Jets team that had been run by Rex Ryan the past six seasons.
Here are five things to know about Bowles.
