5 Takeaways From Week 15 In The NFL

Tony Romo

4. Romo continues to heat up as Cowboys defeat Eagles, take over NFC East lead

Just two weeks removed from a Thanksgiving stuffing, the Cowboys avenged a lopsided loss with a 38-27 victory over the Eagles, this one giving them a one-game lead in the NFC East standings.

The Cowboys won their seventh road game of the season, and now sit at 7-0 away from Jerry’s World in 2014. Every other team in the league has at least two losses on the road this year.

Dallas moved ahead 21-0 early in the second quarter but only led by 11 at halftime. Then the team put together a 10-point fourth quarter to earn the win, moving to 10-4 overall with two games to go.

Quarterback Tony Romo threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns, including a 25-yarder to Dez Bryant early in the fourth quarter to put the Cowboys up nine. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Romo has thrown a touchdown pass in 40 straight road games, the longest-active streak in the league. Peyton Manning is second with 31.

The Eagles are now 3-3 with Mark Sanchez under center. Sanchez threw a pair of interceptions in this game, as the Eagles turned it over four times and lost the time of possession battle by almost 24 minutes. LeSean McCoy was limited to 64 yards rushing. In other words, there are real concerns about Philadelphia and their playoff chances.
