Value Plays

Quarterback

Derek Anderson, Carolina Panthers $5,000

Anderson is priced as the minimum on DraftKings, which enables you to spend on most other positions. In his only start this season, he threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns against Tampa Bay, who he faces this week. The Bucs have allowed double-digit fantasy points in all but two games this season, which gives Anderson an excellent chance to reach value at just $5,000. The one thing that would prevent him from reaching value is the Panthers’ willingness to run the ball without Cam Newton. Luckily, just one touchdown pass is enough for Anderson to reach value, and his cap relief will prove worthy with the rest of your lineup filled with higher-priced players.

Running Back

Jeremy Hill, Cincinnati Bengals $4,300

With recent news coming to the surface about Hill being the starter and receiving the bulk of the work for the Bengals, he becomes a value at just $4,300 on DraftKings. Expect similar numbers to when backup running back Gio Bernard was out, as offensive coordinator Hue Jackson wants to “lean on one running back”, which would bring Hill close to 20 carries per game. The Browns’ rush defense has been good, allowing just one rushing touchdown since Week 8, but they have given up some big games to opposing running backs. The last three games is skewed towards the Browns, as they’ve faced Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Buffalo, who do not have a good running game. The Bengals are likely to rely on their rushing attack, especially with Andy Dalton struggling against the Browns in his career. (15.96 fantasy points per game against the Browns, compared to 19.91 per game against the field, per RotoViz’ Game Splits app)

Wide Receiver

Marquess Wilson, Chicago Bears $3,000

Wilson is priced at the minimum on DraftKings, and will likely be highly-owned. But, he is the starter opposite Alshon Jeffery and will line up against the Saints’ defensive backs, who have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season. Prior to Marshall’s injury, he and Jeffery combined for 221 targets, or over 40 percent of the total targets in the Bears’ passing game. With Wilson taking Marshall’s spot, he should see enough targets to give him an opportunity to reach value on DraftKings. Last week after Marshall’s injury, Wilson played 62 snaps and was thrown at five times, just three less times than Jeffery in five less snaps. With Wilson likely to lineup on the left side (only one target on the right side) he will see Keenan Lewis quite often. Lewis has allowed five touchdowns in his last five games, and is allowing a 104.5 passer rating when targeted.

Tight End

Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers $4,500

Gates faces Denver this week, who has allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Gates is TE5 in PPR this season, and he caught five passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns in the first meeting with the Broncos. With the Broncos boasting some of the better cornerbacks in the NFL, expect Rivers to target his tight end often in this contest. Keep in mind that Gates is likely to play as many snaps as he can handle with Ladarius Green all but out for this weekend.

Lineup

QB – Derek Anderson $5,000

RB – Le’Veon Bell $9,600

RB – Matt Forte $9,000

WR – Jordy Nelson $7,800

WR – Mohamed Sanu $4,400

WR – Marquess Wilson $3,000

TE – Antonio Gates $4,500

FLEX – Jeremy Hill $4,300

DST – Redskins $2,400
