QB2 By Committee: Mark Sanchez, Shaun Hill, and Ryan Tannehill Make Solid Week 13 Streamers

Mark Sanchez

As we tend to usually do before listing this week’s QB2 streaming recommendations, we quickly review the prior weeks results:

Zach Mettenberger – 19.60 fantasy points – QB9
Josh McCown – 12.84 fantasy points – QB18
Brian Hoyer – 8.08 fantasy points – QB23

Hoyer was a real let down, throwing three interceptions and no touchdowns to go with his 322 passing yards. Even though he threw one touchdown and 341 yards, McCown couldn’t take full advantage of his opportunity vs. the Bears, as he also threw two interceptions. Mettenberger was the lone bright spot of the week, taking advantage of playing against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Onto Week 13…

Week 13 QB2 Circle of Trust

Mark Sanchez @ DAL

Six teams are playing Thursday, and I wanted to at least get one name on the QB2 streaming recommendations list.

Sanchez gets the nod, as he’ll be facing a Dallas Cowboys defense that’s given up 20+ fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks five times this season, with that feat being accomplished in three of their past five games. Only Blake Bortles failed to score at least 18 fantasy points vs. Dallas in the last five weeks.

Three quarterbacks (Eli Manning twice) have thrown for at least 248 passing yards and three passing touchdowns vs. Dallas the past five weeks. Since becoming the starting quarterback in Philadelphia, Sanchez has thrown for over 300 yards in three of four games and has thrown two touchdowns in three of four games as well.

Sanchez has a chance to feast on the Cowboys secondary this Thanksgiving Thursday.

Shaun Hill @ OAK

In his two games since returning, Shaun Hill has only scored 18.72 fantasy points. Combined. And his offensive pass catching cupboard is almost empty. Kenny Britt, Stedman Bailey, and Jared Cook are his only true weapons in the pass game.

This isn’t the most confident QB2 streaming recommendation I’ve ever made, but I feel Hill could produce respectable QB2 numbers this week vs. Oakland. And, really, if we’re being honest, I’ve made worse recommendations this season.

The Raiders aren’t a slam dunk bad defense to play against either, which only hurts our cause. Peyton Manning torched them for 340 yards and five touchdowns in Week 10, but they held Russell Wilson to under 200 passing yards and zero scores in Week 9. Philip Rivers also struggled against Oakland in Week 11, while Alex Smith threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns last week.

Hill is not a safe play, but one I’d be willing to take a chance on this week.

Ryan Tannehill @ NY Jets

It was another QB1 fantasy finish for Ryan Tannehill in Week 12, as his 26.62 fantasy points were the third-highest of the week, behind only Drew Brees and Peyton Manning. That brings his QB1 finishes to five on the season.

Tannehill has a good shot at making it six with a Week 13 showdown against the New York Jets. This year, the Jets have allowed the most passing touchdowns (27) and have intercepted only three passes.

Just one quarterback (Ben Roethlisberger in Week 10) didn’t throw multiple touchdowns in a game against the Jets this season.

Opposing AFC East quarterbacks (Tom Brady once, Kyle Orton twice) so far this year have thrown for 720 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions vs. the Jets.

It’s now Ryan Tannehill‘s time.
