Daily Fantasy Hockey: DFS DraftKings Values – October 31

Ryan Johanson

There is only one team playing the second night of a back to back tonight, and that’s the Anaheim Ducks. Most teams should be rested, even though teams like Columbus and Los Angeles have some key injuries (Bobrovsky, Kopitar) that might make secondary GPP targets against them viable.

Update: Los Angeles also played last night. That was an oversight on my part.

No team is a significant favorite tonight – odds taken from Covers Experts show that no one is better than a (-125) favorite tonight. That makes picking a goaltender pretty tough. I think the best option would be to go with Pekka Rinne for Nashville tonight, if only because it seems they have the best matchup. It’s still not ideal, though.

As always, check Left Wing Lock for goalie confirmations.

Players will be in order of perceived value, by position, and there should be enough to mix-and-match for each type of game available on Draft Kings. Some positions might only have a few plays, some might have several. It all depends on the day, the matchups, and the price.

Remember: players are in order of value, not necessarily in cost. Just because Sidney Crosby is $8000 one day doesn’t mean he’s a better value than Andrew Shaw at $4000.

Cash Games

Center Wing Defense Goalie
Johansen (CBJ) – $6800 Atkinson (CBJ) – $5800 Savard (CBJ) – $3600 Rinne (NSH) – $9000
Getzlaf (ANA) – $7400 Benn (DAL) – $7800 Vatanen (ANA) – $4700 Howard (DET) – $7400
Seguin (DAL) – $9000 Abdelkader (DET) – $5100 Daley (DAL) – $5100
Smith (NSH) – $4900 Perry (ANA) – $8500 Johnson (CBJ) – $3600
Kadri (TOR) – $3800 Lupul (TOR) – $4600 Franson (TOR) – $3400
Spezza (DAL) – $7000 Beleskey (ANA) – $4500
Kessel (TOR) -$8000
Hemsky (DAL) – $3100

  • As is obvious, I do like Columbus tonight, as well as their prices. There are some very good values for Toronto, though, so I’m definitely not opposed to taking players from both sides.
  • There are a lot of cheap wingers tonight in positions to succeed like Lupul, Beleskey, and Hemsky. That makes spending at other positions, especially goalie, especially viable.
  • Defense is a bit of a mess tonight. Because savings can be had elsewhere, it might not be a bad idea to spend some extra cash there.

Guaranteed Prize Pools/Tournaments

Center Wing Defense Goalie
Seguin (DAL) – $9000 Benn (DAL) – $7800 Franson (TOR) – $3400 McElhinney (CBJ) – $6200
Spezza (DAL) – $7000 Perry (ANA) – $8500 Vatanen (ANA) – $4700 Lehtonen (DAL) – $7700
Getzlaf (ANA) – $7400 Beleksey (ANA) – $4500 Savard (CBJ) – $3600
Johansen (CBJ) – $6800 Atkinson (CBJ) – $5800 Jones (NSH) – $3300
Kadri (TOR) – $3800 Lupul (TOR) – $4600
Kessel (TOR) – $8000

  • I would be avoiding the Detroit/Los Angeles game if possible tonight. It just doesn’t look like there will be many goals in that one.
  • Columbus/Toronto and Anaheim/Dallas are the two games to really pick on.
  • There aren’t many good goalies tonight. It truly is a shot in the dark, so I would roll with McElhinney if only because he’s cheap.

Slim’s Pickins (bargain plays)

Colin Wilson (NSH-C, $2900) – Wilson should be avoiding the Brodie/Giordano matchup all game, and he gets secondary power play time as well.

Tomas Jurco (DET-W, $2800) – He’s been taken off the top power play unit, but he’s still going to get secondary time against a weaker second PK unit for Los Angeles.

Fedor Tyutin (CBJ-D, $2800) – Tyutin will probably have to block a few shots tonight, and he gets second unit power play time. He could reach value without even tallying a point.

Good luck!
