Daily Fantasy Hockey: DFS DraftKings Values – October 24

Taylor Hall

Vancouver, Carolina, and Columbus all played last night, which should mean tired teams and backup goalies abound tonight. As far as Vegas goes, the biggest favorites tonight (via Covers Experts) are Anaheim and Edmonton. DFS players will want to get their goalie from one of these teams.

Dallas has been pretty bad on the penalty kill so far this year, so using a couple cheap players from the New Jersey Devils that get good power play time like Ryane Clowe or Damon Severson isn’t a bad idea.

Play Daily Fantasy Hockey on DraftKings Tonight!

As always, check Left Wing Lock for goalie confirmations.

Players will be in order of perceived value, by position, and there should be enough to mix-and-match for each type of game available on Draft Kings. Some positions might only have a few plays, some might have several. It all depends on the day, the matchups, and the price.

Remember: players are in order of value, not necessarily in cost. Just because Sidney Crosby is $8000 one day doesn’t mean he’s a better value than Andrew Shaw at $4000.

Cash Games

Centre Wing Defense Goalie
Ryan Kesler (ANA) – $5700 Jaromir Jagr (NJD) – $4700 Tobias Enstrom (WPG) – $3600 Frederik Andersen (ANA) – $9200
Nathan MacKinnon (COL) – $6200 Ryan O’Reilly (COL) – $5400 Damon Severson (NJD) – $3400 Ben Scrivens (EDM) – $6400
Mark Scheifele (WPG) – $3800 Taylor Hall (EDM) – $7200 Sami Vatanen (ANA) – $4700
Travis Zajac (NJD) – $4000 Devante Smith-Pelly (ANA) – $4100 Anton Stralman (TBL) – $3400
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (EDM) – $5000 Blake Wheeler (WPG) – $5000
Jordan Eberle (EDM) – $5000
Alex Tanguay (COL) – $4200
Jonathan Drouin (TBL) – $5100

  • Anaheim should be getting to face backup goalie Curtis McElhinney tonight, and that should bump up the Anaheim skaters. I will probably avoid expensive Ducks players tonight and look to get exposure through cheaper players like Vatanen and Smith-Pelly.
  • I’m not particularly high on Colorado most nights, but tonight should be a good spot for them with Vancouver having played last night and likely starting Eddie Lack in net.
  • I don’t see many defensemen past Sami Vatanen worth paying for tonight. Unlike most short slate nights, I would save on defensemen and spend on forwards and in goal.

Guaranteed Prize Pools/Tournaments

Centre Wing Defense Goalie
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (EDM) – $5000 Taylor Hall (EDM) – $7200 Justin Schultz (EDM) – $5000 Cory Schneider (NJD) – $7000
Travis Zajac (NJD) – $4000 Jordan Eberle (EDM) – $5000 Damon Severson (NJD) – $3400 Ben Scrivens (EDM) – $6400
Nathan MacKinnon (COL) – $6200 Jaromir Jagr (NJD) – $4700 Anton Stralman (TBL) – $3400
Steven Stamkos (TBL) – $8800 Gabriel Landeskog (COL) – $5500 Sami Vatanen (ANA) – $4700
Ryan O’Reilly (COL) – $5400
Jonathan Drouin (TBL) $5100

  • I will be hard-pressed not to use the big guns for Edmonton tonight. I’d rather they were facing Cam Ward in net for Carolina, but it’s Anton Khudobin starting. Even still, this is a Carolina team still missing significant pieces to their lineup. Edmonton should fare well tonight.
  • Stacking cheap New Jersey power play options allows for more expensive options like Steven Stamkos and Taylor Hall.
  • I think Cory Schneider should make a good contrarian play tonight, if only because it’s not an ideal matchup for him. Those wanting to shy away from facing Dallas, though, should feel good about using Ben Scrivens.

Slim’s Pickins (bargain plays)

William Karlsson (ANA-C, $2800) – The young former second round pick is still getting top power play minutes with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.

Brett Connolly (TBL-W, $2500) – The highly-touted winger is getting second line minutes and first unit power play time. In Tampa Bay, that’s a great place to be.

Jon Merrill (NJD-D, $2700) – Those wanting to save even more money from using Damon Severson are just fine to use Jon Merrill, who is himself getting some good power play minutes.

Good luck!
