Daily Fantasy Hockey: DFS DraftKings Values – October 23

Mikael Granlund

There’s a reasonable slate to work with tonight, and note that the Ottawa/Toronto game from last night was not rescheduled for today. There are only two games that begin before 8 PM ET, which means there could be some hectic moments as far as game-time decisions and late substitutions go. It’s a night I’d recommend being by your favorite device used for changing lineups.

Play Daily Fantasy Hockey on DraftKings Tonight!

The big favourite tonight is the Los Angeles Kings, but the Bruins, Blues, Wild, Flames, and Sharks are all (-160) or better. That means there are a lot of heavily-favored teams some GPPs should be a bit easier to have more unique players.

As always, check Left Wing Lock for goalie confirmations.

Players will be in order of perceived value, by position, and there should be enough to mix-and-match for each type of game available on Draft Kings. Some positions might only have a few plays, some might have several. It all depends on the day, the matchups, and the price.

Remember: players are in order of value, not necessarily in cost. Just because Sidney Crosby is $8000 one day doesn’t mean he’s a better value than Andrew Shaw at $4000.

Cash Games

Centre Wing Defense Goalie
Granlund (MIN) – $4000 Tarasenko (STL) – $6300 Martinez (LAK) – $3300 Kuemper (MIN) – $8700
Carter (LAK) – $6200 Pearson (LAK) – $3600 Brodin (MIN) – $3200 Allen (STL) – $7000
Monahan (CGY) – $4000 Hudler (CGY) – $3600 Giordano (CGY) – $5500 Quick (LAK) – $9200
Coyle (MIN) – $3800 Parise (MIN) – $8100 Braun (SJS) – $3300
Thornton (SJS) – $5500 Toffoli (LAK) – $5500 Shattenkirk (STL) – $5100
Krejci (BOS) – $6500 Schwartz (STL) – $6800
Glencross (CGY) – $3700

  • I think tonight is the night the first line for Minnesota breaks out in a big way. The Wild, though, have moved Charlie Coyle to the second line with Mikko Koivu and Thomas Vanek.
  • Calgary has a nice matchup tonight, which should bode well for their top scorers.
  • I would only pick one of Schwartz/Tarasenko, and there’s negligible difference in everything across the board for the two of them.
  • This is a good night to spend on a high-priced defensemen. Some of them have a good matchup, and there are enough low-cost forwards to be able to do so.

Guaranteed Prize Pools/Tournaments

Centre Wing Defense Goalie
Carter (LAK) – $6200 Pearson (LAK) – $3600 Hamilton (BOS) – $4200 Hiller (CGY) – $8300
Granlund (MIN) – $4000 Parise (MIN) – $8100 Brodin (MIN) – $3200 Howard (DET) – $7000
Thornton (SJS) – $5500 Tarasenko (STL) – $6300 Martinez (LAK) – $3300 Svedberg (BOS) – $7200
Pavelski (SJS) – $6800 Hudler (CGY) – $3600 Burns (SJS) – $5900
Monahan (CGY) – $4000 Eriksson (BOS) – $4800 Brodie (CGY) – $5000
Soderberg (BOS) – $4300 Schwartz (STL) – $6800
Toffoli (LAK) – $5500

  • Boston might be a nice target for a cheap secondary stack. About four of their players – including the goalie – could be used for about 40% of a DK budget, which is a pretty nice to be.
  • Jimmy Howard could be a nice play in net tonight. Detroit does a good job of shutting down opposing offenses, and Pittsburgh is on back-to-back nights after a tough game last night.
  • Going cheap with defensemen in a GPP might be the play tonight; there are some good ones for a cheap value that are getting power play time.

Slim’s Pickins (bargain plays)

Jori Lehtera (STL-C), $2800 – Centering a line with Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Tarasenko, including PP time. Until the price adjusts, he’s an auto-start every time he plays.

Linden Vey (VAN-W), $2800 – A bad matchup at even strength, but is still on the top power play unit with the Sedins.

Tim Erixon (CBJ-D), $2500 – Still not getting a lot of minutes, but still getting those top unit power play minutes.

Good luck!
