The defense was able to overcome the absence of NaVorro Bowman and Aldon Smith, but could not withstand an injury to Patrick Willis. Manning had his way with the 49ers, while the offense could not find a rhythm against the Broncos’ D. There’s cause for concern, but 4-3 with reinforcements coming, there’s also optimism.
What to know: The 42 points surrendered through three quarters Sunday night was the most in that span of time in four seasons while the 49ers have been coached by Jim Harbaugh (ESPN Stats & Info).
