Anaheim, Colorado, Buffalo, and Tampa Bay are all playing the second game of a back-to-back, the first two teams doing so on the road. Teams that are playing opposite of them would be a good idea, mostly. I say “mostly” because Buffalo is going in to Carolina, who is missing their top two centres. That makes Carolina mostly avoidable tonight.
Play Daily Fantasy Hockey at DraftKings
Tampa Bay had an offensive outburst last night but get a team in New Jersey tonight that suppresses events very well. Chasing last night’s production usually is a losing play, and tonight is no exception.
Players will be in order of perceived value, by position, and there should be enough to mix-and-match for each type of game available on Draft Kings. Some positions might only have a few plays, some might have several. It all depends on the day, the matchups, and the price.
Remember: players are in order of value, not necessarily in cost. Just because Sidney Crosby is $8000 one day doesn’t mean he’s a better value than Andrew Shaw at $4000.

Bozak (TOR) – $4800 | Toffoli (LAK) – $4300 | Voynov (LAK) – $3400 | |

Zajac (NJD) – $4100 | |||
Sceviour (DAL) – $3800 |
- I think there’s a good chance Nashville lays the wood to Calgary, so at the very least I’ll be targeting Rinne in net.
- Toronto gets the Colorado Avalanche on the second of the back-to-back, which makes their top line very appealing. The defense, though, is still a bit of a mess.
- Brock Nelson (NYI) and Colton Sceviour (DAL) are both getting first line duties for their respective teams, a pretty good place to be.
- Philadelphia will be tough to ignore tonight.
- Defensively, Tampa Bay has been solid this year, but not great. On the second of a back to back, that could mean good things in store for New Jersey.

- I’m looking at Toronto, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and the New York Rangers, in that order.
- Toronto gets a mediocre Colorado team on the second of a back to back. That should be good for their goal-scoring.
- Philadelphia has been going offensively since the Boston game, and get a tired (hopefully) Anaheim team. Because of Michael Raffl’s price, stacking their top line isn’t breaking the bank.
- New Jersey gets a tired (again, hopefully) Tampa Bay team. More than that, though, is the fact that it’s Evgeni Nabokov in net for the Lightning, and not Ben Bishop.
- The Rangers get a tough test in the Islanders tonight, who are doing a good job suppressing offenses (even if it doesn’t show in their goals allowed totals). That might shy some people away from them, and that makes their top line a good contrarian play.
Slim’s Pickins (bargain plays)
Riley Nash (C-CAR, $2500) – Carolina is mostly avoidable, but Nash is a minimum price against the worst team in the NHL and he’s centering Alex Semin.
Michael Raffl (W-PHI, $2800) – Raffl was moved to the top line in Philadelphia, a spot he spent some time last year (and where they were very successful).
Daniel Winnik (W-TOR, $2700) – Winnik has been moved to Toronto’s second line with Joffrey Lupul.
Liles (D-CAR, $2900) – A top-unit power play guy at near-min price against Buffalo is almost too good to pass up.
Good luck!
