The Houston Texans were shopping the No. 1 overall pick earlier in the week, but instead opted to draft Jadeveon Clowney. Now it appears as if the No. 1 pick is again on the market.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Texans are shopping the first pick in the second round of the NFL draft Friday night.

It’s a smart move considering there are doubts the Texans want to select quarterback Derek Carr with the 33rd overall pick. He’s the top quarterback available and shouldn’t make it out of the second round, so perhaps the Arizona Cardinals could come calling if Carr is their guy.

Teams in need of wide receiver help could also be picking up their phones. Former USC wideout Marqise Lee is arguably the best player available. So would the New York Jets, the San Francisco 49ers, or the Kansas City Chiefs be in the mix to make a deal?

Also available are a bunch of high-rated defensive linemen. Both Notre Dame prospects Louis Nix III and Stephon Tuitt, as well as Ra’Shede Hageman of Minnesota and Kony Ealy of Missouri are up for grabs. So is second-rated tight end Jace Amaro of Texas Tech, offensive guard Xavier Su’a-Filo of UCLA, and offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio of Alabama.

The Houston Chronicle reported the Texans are expected to draft Carr with the 33rd overall pick, which conflicts with Schefter’s report. It could, however, be a smokescreen, putting a sense of urgency in a team like the Cardinals that could have an interest in Carr.

The Texans may be hesitant to draft Carr, the younger brother of David Carr, whom the team selected a decade earlier only to see his career be played out under the “bust” label. According to the Houston Chronicle, David Carr’s failures have “complicated” Derek Carr’s potential future in Houston.
