Texas Rangers (Darvish) at Los Angeles Angels (Skaggs)
For his career against the Angels (10 starts), Darvish sports a 3.77 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP. I’m as big a fan of him as most people but I’d rather use that amount of my budget on a slamdunk, not on a relative uncertainty. I do like the big right-handed hitters from the Rangers lineup today, though.
Alex Rios (OF) – $7373
Adrian Beltre (3B) – $7073
Mike Trout has absolutely mashed Darvish in his career (9-for-28 with four of those nine hits being home runs). Other than him, there’s nothing exciting among the Angels that I’m looking for.
Mike Trout (OF) – $9408
Milwaukee Brewers (Lohse) at Cincinnati Reds (Simon)
Kyle Lohse has basically one sub-par start this year and has been very good otherwise. His price point has him pretty high up the list in cost, though, so I’ll probably just pass for today. I’m not very excited about their hitters against Simon today, especially where they have just 10 runs scored in their last four games.
Simon is a very solid, very cheap play today. Without Ryan Braun, that Milwaukee lineup is missing punch and they’re scuffling a bit anyway. He’ll be in quite a few of my lineups. Lohse should be solid against the Reds, though, so I’m not so high on their hitters.
Alfredo Simon (SP) – $13,947
Jay Bruce (OF) – $6903
