Boston Bruins at Detroit Red Wings
Boston had a turn-around game in the second of this series, winning 4-1 after being shutout 1-0 in their opener. The big difference I noticed in Game 2 was that the Bruins were back to being “the Big, Bad Bruins” and imposing their game on the Red Wings. One thing that’s gone pretty under the radar is that Tuukka Rask has still only allowed two goals in two games on 59 shots against. While the team gets much of the praise, Rask has been rock solid in net. However, he’s neck-and-neck with Carey Price in price point today so I might shy away from him on the road.
While it might not be a monumental loss, Daniel Alfredsson will not play tonight for the Red Wings. He did have 17 points in his final 26 games in the regular season for the Wings, though, and his leadership has definitely not gone unnoticed. Detroit has yet to score on the power play against the Bruins and while it’s just two games, the Wings need to take advantage of their chances against Boston. It’s no surprise, though, as the Wings had just one power play goal in four regular season games against Boston.
This game is a bit of a toss-up for me. The Wings have played pretty well but the Bruins look dominant in stretch. That’s the nature of the playoffs.
I won’t be stacking either side in this one and with the Bruins on the road, I will probably avoid Tuukka Rask as well. I will stay away from the Bergeron line for now until I see them start to get it together at five on five. For those looking for an off-the-board stack, I don’t mind doing that to Detroit’s top line tonight.
