Detroit Red Wings at Boston Bruins
I committed the Cardinal Sin of daily fantasy sports in Game 1 of this series when I went against my instinct and played into the “playoffs have been high scoring” fallacy. The result was a small Bruins stack that did next-to-nothing, as the game finished 1-0 for Detroit.
Most games between these two teams this year have been fairly low-event – the average NHL game has about 60 shots on goal, these two teams in their last two games of the regular season averaged 50 shots on goal – and low-event typically means low-scoring. This was a tight-checking game (from what I saw) and these two teams are relatively evenly matched, even with Boston having a slight edge in depth.
I’d rather just stay away from this game for today. I don’t think it’s very high scoring (bad for DFS) and the goaltending is a toss-up (very bad for DFS). If the players aren’t cheap value plays to round out GPPs, I’m just staying away.
