Dallas Stars at Anaheim Ducks
This will probably be the most exciting game of the night.
In the regular season, each team had a 6-3 win over the other and the tie-breaker was Dallas shutting out Anaheim, IN Anaheim, back in February. It wasn’t even a ridiculous performance from Kari Lehtonen that was needed either, just 27 shots against. In fact, Dallas outshot Anaheim 104-96 in those three games. It’s not a huge margin, but not a bad indicator of how much closer these teams are than the regular season point spread might indicate.
Dallas stumbled a bit down the stretch, alternating wins and losses for the month of April. They still have two dynamic young scorers, a Calder trophy hopeful, and one of the top tenders in the league. The defense is a little weaker than Anaheim’s but the teams are very similar.
I’m not stacking either side because this series truly is a coin flip to me. Until Anaheim gets their goaltending situation settled, I will lean Dallas. I would rather just use the top skaters from either top line, especially because I don’t expect them to be matched against each other.
Of note: Cam Fowler returned to the top power play unit when he came back from injury and Matt Beleskey remains on the top line for Anaheim.
