Daily Fantasy Baseball DFS Value Update and Lineup – April 16

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Johnny Cueto

Chicago Cubs (Hammel) at New York Yankees (Tanaka)

Jason Hammel is off to a nice start this year but even with the Yankees’ injuries of late, this isn’t a team that DFSers typically can start non-elite pitchers on the road against. I would avoid Hammel and most Cubs hitters in this one unless it’s a “punt a position” situation.

Junior Lake (OF) – $4130

Wellington Castillo (C) – $4153

Masahiro Tanaka is only the fifth-most expensive pitcher on the board today and he has as much potential as any of them to post a big game, given the team he’s facing. Some Yankees hitters faced Hammel going back to his Baltimore days, so there is value among their hitters. I also like Michael Pineda pitching in the second game, as well.

Masahiro Tanaka (SP) – $19,456

Michael Pineda (SP) – $17,820

Jacoby Ellsbury (OF) – $6374

Kelly Johnson (OF) – $5230
