St. Louis Blues at Dallas Stars
With a 4-2 loss to Minnesota last night, the Blues have lost four straight games in regulation and have scored just five goals over that stretch. They’ve also allowed four goals against in each of those losses. Considering one of those losses was to Washington, this streak is getting a bit brutal.
The Blues may have suffered a major loss last night as T.J. Oshie took a headshot from Minnesota forward Mike Rupp and left the game, somewhat under his own power. He’ll be out for tonight, and that could have lasting impact on their playoff chances. With David Backes already missing time, this could be a skeleton crew sent out to Dallas tonight. At this point, with the way the breaks are going for St. Louis and the personnel they are missing, all my optimism is gone for them as far as DFS is concerned. There’s just no way to tell how they will respond.
Thanks to Phoenix’s regulation loss last night, the Stars can clinch the final Wild Card spot in the West with any type of win here tonight. Considering their final game of the year on Sunday night is against Phoenix, I would assume this game will be an all-out effort from the Stars. They probably won’t have to change too much of their game though, as the team defense has been stellar in recent memory; the Stars haven’t allowed 30 shots or more in a game for four straight games (with two playoff teams mixed in there). The power play is just 2-for-27 in their last seven games, however.
Depending on what St. Louis’ lineup looks like, I really like Dallas in this game. They have a lot to play for and unlike St. Louis, they will not be playing on back to back nights. As a bit of a gamble, I don’t mind an outright stack of the Stars’ top line, and will probably start whoever they start in goal.
