Los Angeles Kings at Calgary Flames
I will say right off the top that every game I’ve projected between these two teams this year has been fairly wrong. Calgary has won twice in Los Angeles while the Kings have won twice when visiting Calgary. It seems like home ice advantage is no advantage at all.
The Kings are just 1-3 in their last four games and the problem has been what it has all season: In their lone win, they have four goals scored. In their three losses, they have four goals scored. It’s not strictly a percentage problem either; the Kings have managed just 24.3 shots on goal in those three losses. That won’t get better tonight as the Kings have managed just 24 shots on goal as an average in their four games against Calgary this year.
The Flames, in their own last four games, have allowed just five goals against and they are back to being stingy again on defense, allowing just 30 shots on goal as an average in those four games. It’s not where they were a month ago, but better than they were two weeks ago.
This one just screams low-scoring. There have only been 15 goals scored in the four games these two teams have played and as mentioned, both teams have two regulation wins. I would avoid the goaltenders and just take cheap value picks for 50/50s.
