Washington Capitals at St. Louis Blues
This one could get ugly.
The Caps are pretty much eliminated from playoff contention and it’s starting to show in their play; this team has allowed an average of 35 shots on goal over their last three games and they have lost five out of their last six overall. The power play has started to cool off quite a bit as their power play has gone exactly 0-for-13 over their last three games after going 4-for-11 in the three games before that. I don’t really have much confidence in this team right now and would avoid them for the most part.
The Blues’ goal scoring has slowed down quite a bit lately, scoring just seven goals in their last five games. It’s not because they aren’t playing that well, they are still averaging 29 shots on goal in those five games. But they are shooting just 4.8-percent so they are just on the wrong side of those right now.
For the majority of season, the Blues murdered Eastern Conference teams at home though this has slowed down very recently (two goals in their last two games against the East at home, both wins). I wouldn’t stack the Blues because of how their shooting has been of late, but they are getting Alex Steen back tonight and that should help balance out the rest of their lines a bit.
