Boston Bruins at Toronto Maple Leafs
The Boston Bruins lost last night in Detroit, and it was their first regulation loss in a month. It was also a game where the thoroughly dominated the Red Wings and Jimmy Howard ended up being the difference in the game. In short, the Bruins aren’t in for a downswing. Also, any thoughts about “back to back on the road” splits applying to Boston can go away: The Bruins are 4-0 on the second game of a back to back situation on the road so far this year.
Toronto is in a “win every day” mentality and they snapped their eight-game losing streak on Tuesday at home against Calgary, a lottery pick team. A game the Leafs won 3-2 and were outshot. Pardon me if I’m not ready to deem this team Turned Around.
With the top line in Toronto gone cold (Phil Kessel has one assist, zero goals, in his last four games) then there’s no real certainties on this team. Jake Gardiner also had his point streak snapped last game so he’s back to irrelevant in DFS.
Toronto does have one win against Boston this year, but it was a 4-3 win and the team was outshot 41-26. I expect Boston to at least win this game, though it may be close. I would avoid whoever starts in net (even for Boston, the Leafs are still a quick-strike team) and pick at some value players.
