Dallas Stars at Carolina Hurricanes
Dallas has been on quite the hot streak of late, going 5-1-0 in their last six games and outscoring their opponents 23-11. The nice thing about the streak is that it’s not fueled by the power play that has gone 3-for-19 in those games. On a positive note for rookie Valeri Nichushkin, he managed to stay on the top line in Dallas in their last game for the entire game, something that has been a rare occurrence for the first line right wing spot. The power play unit has remained unchanged though so Alex Chiasson can still provide a lot of value.
Sure, Carolina has scored some goals in their seven wins since the Olympics, but this team hasn’t gotten to five goals as a team since a game against Florida on February 7th (and that shouldn’t even count). But they are 4-for-12 on the power play in their last five games and that can provide a DFS boost for a team that might not create a huge market of goals. Keep an eye close to game-time though, as Alex Semin will be a GTD with an illness (he missed Tuesday’s game).
It might be tempting to take the home team here tonight but if Semin is out, that really reduces the punch that the Hurricanes have. I won’t stack the Stars outright (mostly because their elite players are too expensive for a road game), but I will lean that way for a goaltender if need be. I would also be looking at Dallas for cheap 50/50 options.
