Ottawa Senators at Tampa Bay Lightning
Ottawa is just in a full-on tailspin right now by losing six straight games or eight of their last nine. In that stretch of nine games, the team hasn’t allowed fewer than three goals against in any of them. Over that stretch, they’ve allowed 38 goals against (4.2 per game). Part of that is the goaltending, part of it is a porous defense that is allowing a lot of top quality chances. Part of it is also the penalty kill that has allowed 10 power play goals against in their 10 games in March. In other words, this team is really, really hard to rely on right now in any facet of DFS.
Tampa had their five-game winning streak snapped on Saturday by Pittsburgh in a 4-3 overtime loss. They weren’t necessarily outplayed, but they did give up three power play goals against in that contest. The team has now allowed a power play goal against in four of their last six games dating back to the start of the winning streak, so they have been susceptible while short-handed. Rookie Ondrej Palat has been on fire over his last eight games with five goals and seven assists in those games. His line, along with Valtteri Filppula and Ryan Callahan, have been drawing secondary competition since Steven Stamkos returned so they will avoid the Turris line tonight in all likelihood (and that’s a good thing).
These two teams have combined for 17 total goals in their last two games played so there should be lots of value here tonight. With Robin Lehner starting for Ottawa, there’s a good chance that Tampa scores quite a few goals tonight; the young goalie has allowed at least five goals against in six of his last 13 appearances in net. I’m not sure about Ben Bishop tonight, but the Lightning should be able to get their fair share of goals.
