Nashville Predators at Calgary Flames
Nashville’s offense has really fallen on some hard times of late. In 10 games in the month of March, the Predators have managed just 16 goals, 11 of them in three wins. In their seven losses, the team has scored five goals. Five. In seven games. Good grief.
The Predators power play has been abysmal this month, converting just two of 33 chances in their last 10 games (6.1-percent). While the penalty kill has been pretty good this month (84-percent), it doesn’t really matter if the team doesn’t score. With so few goals, it makes their DFS skaters completely unreliable. What it also does is make whoever starts in net for them unreliable as well.
Calgary has actually been playing some good hockey this month, going 6-4-0 in their 10 games so far. They have also not lost the five on five possession battle for five straight games, and won it outright in three straight games. Those three games include the Coyotes and Stars as well so it’s not like they have been playing absolute scrubs. Mike Cammalleri has been absolutely on fire for this team this month as well as he’s scored seven goals and added three assists in the 10 games in March.
Calgary, as unlikely as this seems, might be the best team to grab a goaltender from tonight. Rookie goalie Joni Ortio is expected to start and he has won two out of his last three starts, allowing just six goals against in total. I would also put Cammalleri in most lineups while just picking apart at the Flames players for some 50/50 plays.
