Carolina Hurricanes at Chicago Blackhawks
Carolina is another team that has been pretty unreliable in DFS for a little while now. In the team’s last three wins, they have scored 10 goals (3.33 goals for/game) while in their last three losses, the team has scored just six and allowed 12 goals against. It seems they have settled with Anton Khudobin in net, though, and he’s been able to provide a little bit of stability; the goalie has allowed just 14 goals in his last six games. In fact, Khudobin has allowed more than three goals against just once all season long (27 games). The team might not be reliable offensively, but Khudobin has provided a lot of stability in net.
Chicago has been playing some pretty good hockey this month, even if their record (5-3-1) doesn’t necessarily reflect it. In those nine games, the team has allowed just 17 goals against and have given up more than three just once. In fact, in the team’s five wins in the month of March, they have allowed just four goals against total. They are also 4-0-1 against the Eastern Conference this month, with the lone blemish being a 3-2 overtime loss to Philadelphia.
This game doesn’t appear like it will be very close on paper, but Anton Khudobin has really been a difference-maker in net. These two teams met back in October, and the result was a 3-2 win for Chicago in a shootout.
I would be kind of wary about stacking the Blackhawks tonight. They should fill the net but I always worry about going up against a goaltender who is playing as well as Khudobin is (has). If DFS players are looking for a goalie to separate themselves tonight, Khudobin wouldn’t be a bad bet. Other than that, I’ll just be picking at the teams for some 50/50 plays and that’s about it.
