Anaheim Ducks at San Jose Sharks
The Ducks got some pretty bad news as the team will be without defenseman Cam Fowler until at least the start of playoffs with a sprained knee. An already thin defense corps has gotten even thinner, and guys like Hampus Lindholm will have to step up in his absence.
For DFS, this changes things a lot for Anaheim. Their last game saw Lindholm play 24:22, a season-high for him. He was used in a checking role at times, but that was with the Getzlaf line on the ice with him. He was also used almost as the sole defenseman on their power plays. Going forward, he has the opportunity to provide a lot of value. This team has gone just 3-3-2 this month so they are kind of limping along at the moment.
San Jose has gone 7-1-1 this month and the lone regulation loss was in a game where they outshot the opponent by 30. They have started to lock things down defensively as they’ve allowed just 12 goals against in their last six games (and zero power play goals against).
The Sharks have scored exactly three goals in every game they’ve played against Anaheim this year and that’s pretty good consistency for DFS values. Anaheim is offensively-charged enough that I wouldn’t want to rely on whoever is in net for San Jose, but the Sharks players should provide enough DFS value tonight to use one or two of them in 50/50s.
