Vancouver Canucks at Tampa Bay Lightning
Despite the Canucks seemingly self-imploding on a regular basis, the team has managed three wins in their last five games. Granted, those wins are against Calgary, Winnipeg, and Florida, but they haven’t been a complete DFS pit as of late. Their last five games also represents the first time since late December that the team has managed five straight games with at least two goals scored.
Vancouver played in Florida last night and managed a 4-3 shootout win. Part of the resurgence of this team has been the offensive outburst of Alex Burrows. After going about 11 months without a regular season goal, Burrows now has three in his last three games with three assists to go with it. The top line of he, Henrik Sedin, and Nicklas Jensen has actually played well of late and can provide some good value.
Tampa Bay has managed a 2-1-2 record since the return of Steven Stamkos, though it hasn’t been a resounding return for the new team captain. Stamkos has been held without a point in four of his five games since returning, undoubtedly a result of getting used to life without Martin St. Louis. One player that has been on a tear lately is second line winger Ondrej Palat. Palat has three goals and four assists in his last four games. He’s also a fixture now on the top power play unit for the Bolts, a great place to be for any player.
Vancouver has lost five straight games when playing the second of a back-to-back, dating to early January. This seems like a good spot for the Lightning to fill the net on Vancouver – Eddie Lack playing back to back nights, an emotional letdown after the first game against Roberto Luongo since his trade – so I will be stacking the Lightning power play unit in some GPP lineups.
